This full-sized corner two-bedroom apartment is in a much sought-after doorman building. The owners have meticulously taken care of it. Both bedrooms are full-sized, and the closet space is second to none. The renovated windowed galley kitchen is long, with tons of cabinets and miles of granite counter space. The appliances are all stainless steel, with a five-burner stove, under-counter lighting, a deep double sink, and a sizeable double-door fridge.
The 35-foot living room allows for a large dining room table and complete living room set with ample room to spare. It faces west onto Pin Drop, quite east of 5th Street-the full-sized bedrooms. One faces west and north & second north & east. Both bedrooms are at the back of the building, so it is super quiet. They just got new carpets so that they will feel luxurious. There are two renovated bathrooms, one with a soaking tub, and the master is windowed and has a shower.
The Building has a doorman who receives packages and stores them safely in the package room. Returning items is equally as easy. There is a bike room, two laundries on the ground floor, a Shabat elevator, and a live-in super-a 24-hour supermarket beside the F train subway. This is a building where renters tend to stay for a long time. With this apartment, you genuinely have found a quality place to live.
Surrounded by Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, and Flatbush, Kensington is a diverse, peaceful neighborhood. There's a large Orthodox Jewish population, which has made its mark on the neighborhood with kosher eateries and religious buildings. That said, the majority of new people moving here are young professionals seeking a large, affordable apartment.
While Kensington was originally settled as part of The Town of Flatbush, the land wasn't used for much. It wasn't until 1737 that the area was properly settled by the British as farmland. Kensington would be used for agricultural purposes throughout the 1700's and 1800's.
It wasn't until 1885 that Kensington was turned into a residential neighborhood. The Ocean Parkway, finished in 1880, helped make the area popular. Businesses started popping up next to it, as did apartment complexes. By the 1920's, Kensington was full of people.
Kensington ran into some issues around the 1950's and 60's…
