RIVERDALE
Home to the northernmost point in NYC, Riverdale is a Bronx
neighborhood that rests next to the Hudson River. Home to many
schools and parks, this residential neighborhood is sought after by
families for feeling like a suburb within New York City.
Fun Facts and History of
Riverdale
Riverdale began life as a place for wealthy Manhattanites to
place estates and is likely home to the first recorded shark attack
in the New World. While it was largely a place to vacation for NYC
residents, the later half of the 1800's would bring railroads to
the neighborhood, tempting people to live there year round.
The early 1900's saw Riverdale transform from large estates into
more of a residential area with row houses and apartments, though
they were few and far between. By the 1990's these apartments and
row houses were much more prominent. Through it all, Riverdale
never stopped catering to NYC's elite.
