In the northernmost part of Queens, directly above Flushing, Whitestone is a calm residential neighborhood with two bridges, tons to eat, and a ton of space for those seeking to live here. Broken up into several sub-sections, Whitestone is an out of the way haven for the wealthy, middle class, and working class alike.
Whitestone began its colonial life as the estate of founding father, Frances Lewis. Said estate was even ransacked during the American Revolution. After the war, the land was sold to wealthy families so that they may also build large estates there.
Urban development didn't begin until the 1920's when railroads and bridges were constructed in the area. A separate, more upscale part of the neighborhood, known as Malba, remained larger family homes with yards, many of which still stand to this day.
