Are you aware of the best year, month, and day to find an apartment? We spoke with the team at Lifehacker to discuss rental trends based on our four years of accumulated data. In the New York City rental scene, it’s popular for renters to search during the summer months. However, this means rental prices are higher, as there is more competition amongst available inventory.

Best Time of Year

As we’ve previously shared, November is the best time of year to look for an apartment. Rents are cheaper than the busy summer season, but there is still enough available inventory to find an appealing rental option.

Best Time of the Month

When it’s you’re turn to search for an apartment, we recommend beginning your search in the start of the month. This is when new inventory hits the market, providing more options for prospective renters. However, you could try to squeeze out a deal at the end of the month and negotiate a lower rent with the landlord.
