The stores at 55 Fulton Street in Financial District, Manhattan

A major criteria for renters when searching for a new home is its proximity to grocery stores. With the cost of eating out rising in the city, it’s now even more economical than ever to cook at home. For the residents of Financial District, there are now more grocery stores than ever. Thereโ€™s a large Whole Foods right on Broadway and across from Rector Street, Jubilee Market Place on the intersection of John and Gold Street, City Acres Market on Pearl Street between Cedar and Pine Street, and finally, the areaโ€™s only supermarket, 55 Fulton Market by KeyFoods at 55 Fulton Street on Fulton and Gold Street.ย

The supermarket at 55 Fulton Market is more than it seems. Located in the same address are a flower shop, 55 Fulton Flower, and also the ever popular South Korean bakery-cafe chain, Paris Baguette. Local residents can stop by for groceries, grab some fresh flowers, along with some coffee and baked goods all in one go!ย

Stores at 55 Fulton Street

55 Fulton Market by KeyFoods

I lived nearby 55 Fulton Street in the TFC-managed luxury residential building at 2 Gold Street between 2018-2023. 55 Fulton Market was always a quick walk away, not to mention, one of the best grocery stores in the neighborhood for good deals. Get 4 cans of soup for $8 for a quick meal or 4 boxes of Rozoni pasta for only $5. This particular store was always great for stocking up on household pantry staples.ย

55 Fulton Market has two floors worth of groceries for you to browse through. The top level features regular produce like vegetables, fruits, etc and is also a great place to grab some deli meats, ready-to-eat food from the buffet, beer, cheese, and fun snacks to go. Head downstairs by either taking the stairs or their accessible elevator, and you can check out the rest of their goods such as fresh fish in their seafood department, a wide selection of meats, frozen products, and plenty of other things like eggs, milk, candy, refreshments, and household supplies like cleaning products, cooking spices, etc.ย

There are many weekly deals on great pantry staples that you can find displayed prominently in store or on the storesโ€™ website. Not to mention, the produce here is fresh and there is a wide selection. The market underwent a renovation in 2023 and feels nicer and cleaner than ever. For those who donโ€™t have time to shop in person, 55 Fulton Market offers free delivery.ย

55 Fulton Flowerย

Right in front of the entrance to the market is a small and discreet flower shop, Gardenia Boutique, or better known to local residents as 55 Fulton Flower. I used to stop by for staples such as new soil, pots, and to browse some of the new offerings the boutique had to offer. They sell fresh flowers bouquets and cute little plants such as herbs, succulents, and more. During the holidays, you can also purchase Christmas trees (as of 2024, they offer both Balsam and Fraser Fir trees for sale).ย

This boutique also offers wedding services! From bouquets, corsages, arches, to flowers for cake decorations, they do it all. Stop by here before your shopping trip at the grocery store to buy a little pick me up or just to treat your eyes to some beautiful plants!ย

Paris Baguette

Newly opened in 2023, the Paris Baguette bakery is the latest addition to the location. Paris Baguette is a popular South Korean cafe and bakery that has multiple locations now in the United States such as Fort Lee, NJ, and now Financial District, NY. The bakery offers a diverse selection of delectable pastries, cakes, grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, and great brewed coffee and tea with fun twists and flavors. One of my favorites was a lavender flavored latte which had the perfectly brewed and steamed latte with a hint of lavender.ย

The bakery has a small enclosed seating area right in front of its storefront for you to enjoy your goods. If there isnโ€™t enough seating left, you could also consider sitting in front of 55 Fulton Market (they have their own seating section) or even DeLury Square, a cute little public park, which is located just down the block next door. Alternatively, take your baked goods down to Seaport by the docks and enjoy the hustle bustle of both locals and tourists enjoying the nice view of the Brooklyn skyline.ย
