How do I get to LGA?

On Route to LaGuardia Airport (LGA)

LaGuardia Airport is, just as JFK, located in the borough of Queens, but conveniently only eight miles from Midtown Manhattan. Even though LaGuardia is located closer to Midtown Manhattan, it’s also considerably smaller than JFK in size. The airport covers 680 acres and four terminals. LIRR: From Penn Station to LaGuardia Airport you can choose between several LIRR bound trains. Take the Port Washington/Babylon/Ronkonkoma/or the Port Jefferson bound LIRR train and get off at Woodside station. Walk about 1 minute to Roosevelt Ave 61st Street. Then take the bus Q70 for the remaining of the trip. Total travel time ends up being approximately 26 minutes. Cost: $6 for a one way off-peak LIRR ticket, $8.75 for a one way peak LIRR ticket, and $2.75 for a bus ticket with a metro card or exact change.

Airport Express Bus: If youโ€™re going to LaGuardia Airport and you want a bus to take you there, youโ€™ll be using the same service operator as JFK: the NYC Airporter. Again, the service runs seven days a week from 5 am to 11.30 pm. The travel time to LaGuardia is 1 hour.

You can board the bus at these Midtown Manhattan locations:

  • Grand Central Terminal (41st Street between Lexington Avenue and 3rd Avenue)
  • Penn Station (West 33rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues)
  • Port Authority Bus Terminal (42nd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues)

Cost: $14 from Manhattan to LaGuardia.

Subway: Take either the E or F line. If you’re taking the E line from Penn Station take it to Jamaica Center – Parson/Archer. Walk 1 minute to Victor Moore Term/Q47 Stand. Then take the Q70 bus for the remaining of the trip. Route takes about 40 minutes. Cost: $2.75 for a subway or local bus ticket with a metro card and $3.00 for a SingleRide ticket, which you can buy at vending machines.

NYC cabs/Uber/Lyft: From Penn Station to LaGuardia Airport it will take approximately 25 minutes without traffic. Cost: $36-47 with Uber (low-cost option), $29 with Lyft, and $40-$60 with a cab.
