Apartment Resolutions for 2017

apartmentresolutions

Many of us have a tendency to make resolutions for the new year and the majority of these resolutions revolve around becoming a healthier you. While these goals are definitely something to strive for, what about starting with the essentials first?

Here at RentHop we believe personal motivation is directly tied with the energy of your apartment. Do you have a list of things you should have done to your apartment or that youโ€™re dying to try out? It’s not too late to make resolutions for the new year! Here’s a list of potential resolutions that might help improve the energy of your apartment.

1. Donate old clothes

We talk a lot about cluttered apartments on our blog. Thatโ€™s because bad energy is directly tied to clutter and messy rooms. Old clothes that you never use take up unnecessary space. Which is why most of us tend to have more clothes on the ground or hanging on various racks than we’d like. Wouldnโ€™t you feel so much happier and energized if you came home to a clean apartment rather than a cluttered one? Bet youโ€™d feel more motivated to do something active as well.

2. Get creative with your artwork

A boring room is just that. Boring. If you have nothing on your walls, how are you going to getย inspired? Art helps bring out positive emotions, at least if you like the artwork..ย So pick some artwork for your walls that makes you feel happy, motivated, calm, and self assured. Big on music? Purchase your favorite album as a vinyl record and frame it!ย Youโ€™ll be amazed how big of a difference to your mood artwork can make.

3. Invest in a statement piece

Most of us are constantly on a budget or at least fairly frugal when it comes to money. Which makes purchasing new furniture for your apartment a low priority of things to spend money on.ย However, a statement piece can be anything. It can be something youโ€™ve had your eye on for a long time or something that stands out in your apartment. It will make your apartment look just a little bit bolder. Maybe it rubs off on you as well?

4. Finally invest in some quality sheets or a new mattress

Sleep might be the number one thing that affects your motivation and productivity level. If youโ€™re having a bad night’s sleep, youโ€™ll be less productive. And vice versa. Not exactly rocket science. How long ago was it since you bought a new mattress or new sheets? Invest in some quality stuff right now. We promise you won’t be sorry you did.ย

5. Prioritize the stuff you keep putting off

We all have those small things that we keep putting off. Stuff we should do but it just seems more like a hassle than anything else. Stuff like organizing your photo album. You know you should be doing it but it just doesnโ€™t seem that important.ย Why should this be a resolution you say? Because unfinished work will always be on your mind.ย Finish up unfinished business and youโ€™ll see how much lighter you feel.

6. Splurge on some pretty flower additions

A new year doesnโ€™t necessarily mean change your entire apartment. However, you can make some promises to yourself about changing small things to make your apartment look more welcoming. Aย simple addition to that can be flowers! Most of us might not buy flowers for ourselves but flowers have a way of, without sounding cheesy, put a smile on our faces. Flowers help bring out happy emotions so promise your apartment some flowers from time to time.

Bottom line, you need to give your apartment some TLC from time to time. If your apartment, and especially your bedroom, is cluttered with mess and unfinished projects it will tap you of energy, which will impact your motivation to reach the resolutions you set for yourself. So focus a bit more on your apartment this year. We think it will do you some good.ย
