After an agent violates our advertising policies, we suspend the account and remove all of their listings and Pro Credits. Agents who are reinstated may be asked to provide an accuracy deposit towards their advertising fees to guarantee accurate advertising. We prefer to suspend and ban agents rather than apply a fine. When the problem seems firm-wide, we will suspend the entire firm. Sometimes the change must come from senior management.
Compliance Process
The RentHop Compliance team routinely reviews listings on a site-wide basis to ensure listing quality. Additionally, the team reviews any reports that come in about specific listings.
If the team locates instances of inaccuracies, we may correspond with the agentโs broker, review supporting materials, or issue disciplinary action.
Accuracy Deposit
Agents who violate our Compliance Terms will be suspended and must submit an accuracy deposit to return to the platform. The funds for the accuracy deposit go toward a Pro Plan subscription. Upon receiving an accuracy deposit, the team reinstates the agentโs account, and that agent remains on probation for a specified period of time. During probation, if the agent has any other instances or listings that do not adhere to our Compliance Terms, they risk a permanent ban and lose any remaining funds from the deposit.
Our goal is not to generate revenue through accuracy deposits. Many agents complete their probation period without further issues and then continue to subscribe to our services.
Repeat Offenders
For agents that have repeated violations, the account will be banned, and we will not reactivate the account.
