Types of Williamsburg Apartments
Williamsburg was a vital industrial district until the mid-20th century resulting in the disuse of many warehouses and factories around the neighborhood. Through the efforts of local activist groups and artists during the 1980s, many of these spaces were revitalized to host community events. The increase in activity and engagement from the community attracted small and local businesses to return to the neighborhood and with it renters interested in living in the area. In 2005, due to large-scale rezoning, many of these historically important warehouses were converted into unique loft-style apartments. Other types of Williamsburg apartments include newly developed modern high-rise apartments, walk-up apartments, row homes, and more.ย
Best Williamsburg Apartments
For those who arenโt deterred by the higher rent and looking for a Williamsburg apartment to live in, here are our favorite Williamsburg rental apartment buildings.
101 Bedford
Built in 2012, 101 Bedford Ave is a full-service rental building located right by McCarren Park. It is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the Bedford Ave L train station and 9 minutes from the Nassau Ave G train station. Apartments come standard with built-in spice racks, rain showerheads, and deep soaking tubs, alongside in-unit washers and dryers.ย
Speaking of features, the building amenities are a steal! The building has its own fitness center complete with a yoga room, pool, hot tub, and steam room. Pet lovers will remember that I noted the proximity to the park with a dog run and be delighted to hear that the building even has a pet spa (yay for more ways to spoil your fur babies). Other fun amenities include a golf simulator, a childrenโs playroom, garage and bike storage, and four separate laundry rooms so you don’t need to fight over the laundry machines.ย
The Dime Residences
Located at 275 S 5th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211, the Dime Residences was built in 2020 on top of the historical Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh. Renters that we spoke to enjoy the close proximity of the building to the Brooklyn Bridge for running and biking expeditions. For those commuting into Manhattan, the J and M subway lines are easily accessible at the Marcy Ave station just 2 minute’s walk away from the building.ย
While itโs not located directly in central Williamsburg, the building is only a 15-20 minute walk from Bedford Avenue and provides a quiet atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of visiting tourists. Apartments come with washer and dryer units, floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in rain showers, and more.ย
Some stand-out amenities of the building include a half basketball court for the ballers out there, on-site parking and bicycle storage, multiple common areas such as the 5th-floor indoor/outdoor lounges and the 22nd-floor speakeasy-esque lounge.ย
One South First
1 S 1st Street, better known as One South First, is right across the street from Domino Park and located on the waterfront with a gorgeous upfront view of that famous Manhattan skyline. When the writer toured the apartment for the first time, she noted that the building was literally located on top of Robertaโs and the Other Half brewery (a match made in heaven).ย
The building is further away from subway access, with the closest station being around a 12-minute walk from the Bedford Ave L train station. However, the sick waterfront views and access are worth it to many. Not to mention, the building provides tenants with a shuttle service to take you to and from the building to the station. Other great building amenities include the outdoor lounge pool, billiards room, playroom, and more. Units come with floor-to-ceiling windows, blackout shades, washer and dryer units, dishwasher, and more.ย
250 North 10th Street
Another great option located off the waterfront and inland is 250 North 10th Street. This is a well-maintained building from TFC Cornerstone that is also located by McCarren Park. Like 101 Bedford, it is just a 5-minute walk from the L train at the Bedford Av station.ย
Some great building amenities include a fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes, a billiards room, a sundeck with barbeque grills, and a co-working space for those working remotely. Compared to the other buildings on this list, the units here at 250 North 10th Street are also slightly more affordable and youโre getting more bang for your buck.ย
325 Kent
Finally, last but not least, we have 325 Kent Ave. The building, managed by Two Trees, with its unique profile is distinctive and canโt be missed. Itโs located slightly off the waterfront right next to Domino Park and can be a great area for those who love to take a run by the water by themselves or with their dogs. Similarly to One South First, the building offers a shuttle service that will take you directly to the nearby L train station at Bedford Av for an easier commute. Tenants of the building enjoy amenities such as cold storage, an 11,300 sq ft resident lounge and fitness center with panoramic views, plus a 2,000 sq ft 4th-floor courtyard.ย
Units at 325 Kent offer keyless electronic apartment access and come standard with stainless steel Bosch and Blomberg appliances, solar shades in every room, washer/dryers, and large windows. Many of the units here also offer private terraces and or balconies. Great for hosting a small gathering with friends and family while you enjoy the gorgeous views of the water and Manhattan skyline.
