Barry is a fantastic broker, always going the extra mile (or several, in my case). In driving to show different apartments, he toured me around the neighborhood and made numerous recommendations for restaurants and grocery stores, and told me which to stay away from. He was really knowledgable of the neighborhood I was looking around in and had good relationships with plenty of landlords. I flew in from out of town to look for apartments, and he was in contact with me many times beforehand to make sure I had the relevant paperwork and finances so I didn't get screwed. I'd recommend Barry to anybody, especially if you're looking for an apartment for the first time in NYC.

Barry is a delight of an agent and a human being at large. He was one of few agents who responded to our online enquiries with speed and sincerity, which made us keen to work with him. He's been doing this for many many years and has good relationships with landlords, supers and other realtors which is very important; it gives him an added resourcefulness. As international students, we were fortunate to work with Barry as he immediately pointed us to landlords who will work with students who don't have a credit history. Barry is the sort of agent who is able to figure out his clients' needs and wants them to be happy instead of finding ways to make a quick buck. He had the chance to earn more commission from us but counselled instead on a cheaper apartment, which was much more within our means. All the apartments he showed us were clean and well-maintained, and we found our apartment within FOUR days of landing in NYC.

My husband and I just moved from abroad to NYC and had a tough time getting set up. We searched endlessly for an apartment, all of which were nice but due to us being so new -unavailable. We encountered brokers that would have requested up to 1year rent upfront plus another security plus another deposit, etc, which is impossible to afford. Barry was amazing! We were in frequent contact and he always responded within minutes! Although I didn't rent an apartment through Barry, I give him my highest review. Barry was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with my apartment search. He and I had numerous calls, e-mails and texts which set me up for success when applying for an apartment that unfortunately wasn't his listing. He briefed me on all paperwork and gaurantor information should I need it. He was accessible and more importantly, not just looking to make a quick buck. He truly cares about his clients. Barry is one of a kind! Called him to see an apartment, which was perfect. Sadly, things didn't work out. Ended up finding another just as good- Wish I got a chance to work with him. Not only did he coach me on what to look for, but he was reasonable and less of a salesmen and more like a friend. Will definitely recommend to friends/family and keep him in mind for next time.

I had an apartment I am very happy with within less than 24 hours of contacting Barry. He is professional, friendly, extremely reliable and great to work with. He returns calls/emails/texts very quickly, which made life really easy for me when I was stressed out about finding the right place to live and did not have a lot of time. Very helpful and honest. He's honest about a location, and a safe location especially for women living by themselves. From the moment I inquired I received a speedy and courteous response, set up several showings and fell in love with the first apartment. He was very understanding that it would be too far for me to travel (for signing, inspecting, etc) and is more than accommodating to work out alternatives. Definitely someone I would recommend and will use in the future.
Barry is the nicest realtor I have ever met. He got back to my initial inquiry the same night, we had a brief conversation on the phone and arranged to see the location the next day. While I did not rent an apartment from Barry, the apartment I ultimately did sign to was a listing from a realtor friend of his (who contacted him while Barry and I were looking at apartments). Barry was kind enough to drive me to the location and helped out with the initial meeting with the landlord, despite it not being his deal. Complicated, perplexing, Â rough, Â crappy, exhausting, a series of unfortunate events! What do all of these words/phrases have in common? Well, they often describe the home hunting process.
I contacted Barry about an apartment in Astoria and although it had gone earlier that morning, Barry contacted to ask me what I was looking for and to suggest some places I might be interested in. The following afternoon, despite not having anything available within my price range, Barry took time out of his own day to drive me around Astoria, Sunnyside and Woodside to look at comparable places, and also to show me the neighbourhood. Barry was full of useful and honest real estate information and gave me many tips, and shared with me his energetic personality, and while I did not eventually rent from him I would highly recommend him to anyone looking in the Astoria/Sunnyside area.
