Sunrise is a city of about 90,000 people and is located just west
of Fort Lauderdale. While the city is away from the waterfront
views you might think of when you imagine Florida, it is still a
great place to live. The weather is beautiful, there is a good mix
of developed and undeveloped areas, and it offers convenient access
to the rest of Miami. If you are interested in a Miami suburb away
from the beach, this might be the spot for you.
Atmosphere
Because it isn't by the beach, the city is much less busy and
not a massive tourist destination like many cities to the east and
southeast. As a result, you get a much more family oriented
"small-town" feel in Sunrise compared to places like Miami, Fort
Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and others. However, don't take this as a
knock on Sunrise. It has many great schools and parks throughout,
which adds to the family-friendliness of the city.
