In total, Newton is serviced by three modes of mass public transit (all run by the MBTA), which includes a light rail, a commuter rail, and a bus service. • Crystal Lake is a beautiful 33-acre natural lake that is located in Newton. It's mainly lined with expensive private homes, but there are also a few parks there and a place to go swimming.
• The Jackson Homestead, which has now become the Newton History Museum, is known throughout the area as a stop along the world-famous Underground Railroad. It was originally built as a home in 1809 and now houses paintings, maps, photos, and other artifacts from history.
• There are a number of gorgeous and exclusive golf courses in the area that have housed some of the biggest tournaments in Golf, most notably the U.S Open.
• Norumbega Park is a wonderful place to take your dogs for a walk or simply see the beautiful scenery and lush greenery that it has to offer.
• Heartbreak Hill the name given to the stretch on Commonwealth Avenue that is a part of the Boston Marathon. It is often noted as one of the toughest parts of the race.
