"Fengshuikitchen"

You can Feng Shui pretty much everything. Since we just covered how to feng shui your bathroom, next up in our Feng Shui guide we’re taking a look at the kitchen. The kitchen is considered a part of the “Feng Shui trinity” along with the bathroom and bedroom. A kitchen is very important for your health and well-being both because of the fact you make food there, but also because it’s important in the overall Feng Shui of your home. Here are 7 great tips for achieving the best Feng Shui possible in your kitchen.

1. Physical Placement of the Kitchen Itself

It’s not only the things inside the kitchen that can make or break the room’s Feng Shui, the actual physical position of the room plays a big part too. While this can’t be controlled if you’re simply remodeling an existing kitchen, it can be controlled if you’re building a home and selecting which room the kitchen will be in. There are a number of things to avoid here such as: don’t have a kitchen near the front of a home, never have the kitchen in the center of a home, don’t have the kitchen under a toilet, and never have the kitchen under a bedroom. If you obey these rules, your kitchen will be well on its way to obeying the rules of Feng Shui.

2. Choose Colors Wisely

You might think choosing the color for your kitchen to be a simple task. And it can be. But it get’s more complicated if you’re aligning the color choice with Feng Shui rules. The best choice of colors for your kitchen is defined by its location. The locations (and colors) are determined by bagua, which is the Feng Shui energy map. The colors to achieve the greatest Feng Shui possible will vary a ton based on where your kitchen is. So figure out the position of your kitchen and then read up on bagua.

3. Maintain Cleanliness

As the kitchen is a place where nourishment and food preparation is performed, cleanliness is of the utmost importance. If your kitchen is constantly filthy and unorganized, it will suffer from extremely negative energy. Keeping it clean will help to make it a place for positive energy and emotions. This also goes for making sure it is clear of clutter. An abundance of clutter, junk and items on the counters, floor, and table can be believed to contribute to financial problems and other challenges according to the Chinese philosophical system.

4. The Stove Holds Important Significance

Just like the bed is the most important aspect of Feng Shui in the bedroom, the stove is the most important in the kitchen. Your stove supposedly oversees the finances of the home and brings in prosperous energy. Make sure your stove is always in working order, and do your best to make sure all of the burners are being used equally, not just one. Also, the position of your stove has a lot to do with increasing wealth and abundance, as it is the primary place for the source of your family’s nourishment.

5. Make Sure You Can See The Kitchen Door While Cooking

For the absolute best outcome, your stove should be positioned in a place where the person should be facing the doorway to the kitchen. Having the stove face the door is important because the “chi” or energy of a room makes its entry through the door. If you have a cooking station that doesn’t face the doorway, it can lead to stress, anxiety, and even financial challenges. If your cooking station simply can’t face the doorway for whatever reason, hanging a mirror in front of you or a wind chime over the cooking station can help to counteract negative energy.

6. Keep Distance Between Appliances

Creating the illusion of flowing space and freedom in your kitchen is a good thing. If everything is crammed together, the Feng Shui will be much more negative than if everything has its own space and is separated. First of all, you want to make sure that there is a 1-2 foot distance between the stove and the kitchen sink. If this can’t be done, placing a small plant or something green in between them will suffice. Also, the fridge must be 1-2 feet away from the stove as well. When it comes to the stove, do your best to position it at least a few inches away from a wall, as well.

7. Make it Bright and Welcoming

While some people swear to the rule of Feng Shui, don’t be afraid to give your kitchen some personality as well. Most of us spend a fair amount of time in the kitchen, and as a result it should elicit positive and happy emotions from us. By adding some things like artwork, new towels or cookware, you will add pleasure to your food preparation, which will increase the positive energy in the room. Kitchens are also one of the most “active” rooms in a home, so you should bring in some brightness and happiness to welcome others and positive energy into the room.
